Information - ST19 The problems of energy balance in the Earth's aeronomy

Event Information
Modelling of the processes of ionisation and optical excitation in the
Earth's upper atmosphere experiences permanent problems with more accurate consideration of energetic balance in the Earth's aeronomy. Some aspects of this problem need to be explained in more details. Actually it means that our
knowledge of the main input parameter-values of the Sun X-ray and EUV fluxes is still insufficent. Unfortunately there are no reliable models of energetic characteristics of these fluxes during the solar flares of various intensity. The problems of additional sources of energy in the thermosphere and in the middle atmosphere, including the polar ionosphere are also worth of special attention. The solar wind and the electric fields induced by the solar wind disturbances must be considered more carefully in this connection.
We intend to discuss the following topics at the Session:
1.Experimental data related to energetic problems in the physics of the
ionosphere and upper atmosphere of the Earth.
2.Possible approaches to modelling of these problems.
3.Reviews of the existing and new ways to solve the energetic problems more accurately. The suggestions in performing new original experiments in this direction are welcomed.
The solicited, oral and poster presentations are planned at this Session.
