This session welcomes papers that explore the link between terrestrial and aquatic systems in terms of the movement and impacts of sediments and nutrients by water. It is anticipated that papers will address issues relating to both soil (e.g. land degradation, erosion, sediment production, transport and yield,) and water (e.g. pollution, eutrophication, siltation and supply) quality through a range of experimental designs including; monitoring and observation-based work, laboratory experimentation and hardware modelling and numerical modelling studies. Therefore, research conducted at a variety of both spatial and temporal scales is appropriate, with an emphasis placed upon integrated studies that cross scales and catchments units (i.e. headwaters, fluvial networks, and lowlands), genuinely linking the land to the water.
