  Information - TM04 International Heliophysical Year 2007-2008

Event Information
At the time of the EGU, the International Heliohysical Year will have
been officially running for a few weeks: indeed, the official
inauguration and kick-off meeting will take place on February 19-20,
2007 at the United Nation in Vienna.

Since For more than one year now, the European communities of solar,
plasma and heliophysicists are have been preparing this celebration
of the IGY. Coordinated Investigation Programs have been proposed in
the frame of the IHY and ICESTAR programs, public outreach activities
are under development or already in progress, and specific programs
for students and teachers have been elaborated.

One year and a half year after the first European General Assembly
that settled the basement for those activities and a few months
before the Ssecond Ggeneral Aassembly (Torino, June 18-22, 2007) that
will discuss the implication of the European community to large
infrastructure of the future, the town hall meeting at the EGU aims to :
- Discuss the organisation of the « International IHY/IPY Open
Doors day » ;
- Inform about the status of the other European initiatives
(scientific and outreach) ;
- Invite representatives of non- European countries to expose
present their activities for IHY ;
- Propose Invite to the other I*Y programs to participate to this
Town Hall meeting and to summarize their activities

Contribution requests must be sent by March 30, 2007 to the
organizers of this town hall (carine.briand@obspm.fr).
