Information - IS13 - GD27/MPRG17 Core Dynamics and Planetary Dynamos (co-organized by GD & MPRG)

Event Information
This session offers a forum for new developments in core dynamics research with a focus on the dynamo process. Contributions based on theoretical models, numerical simulations, experiments, geophysical observations and core properties are welcome. Particular attention will be given to strategies for improving links and feedback between these approaches. Beyond our home planet this session will also focus on the range of dynamics possible in planetary cores and how this contributes to the observed diversity of the solar system.

Preliminary List of Solicited Speakers
John Tarduno will keep us current on his
newest results about the acient geomagnetic field.
Michael Berhanu will present the VKS dynamo experiment.
Alexandre Fournier will teach us how geomagnetic data
and dynamo theory can more closely be related by data assimilation.
Finally, Erik Spence will talk about the transient signals observed
in many dynamo experiments.
