Information - IS26 - MPRG12/ST18 Long-term trends in geomagnetic data (co-organized by MPRG & ST)
Event Information
There are many time series of geomagnetic field observations that extend over 10 to 100 years and in them there are many signals with origins both inside and outside the Earth. How these signals vary over long time scales and interact with one another could have important implications for climate change studies. Given this, and the fact that many observatories are currently celebrating their 50th, 75th, 100th anniversaries at a time when there is a plethora of satellite magnetic data available, this session aims to attract presentations of studies which extract long-term signals from geomagnetic data collected primarily by observatories, and interprets the trends found in them.
