Information - GI4 General System Design, Image Processing and Data Infrastructures

Event Information
The themes of this session are a) Software development, b) System design of an instrument project and c) Embedded HW/SW systems. The intention of this session is to present and discuss different approaches for designing small autonomous instruments, their system and software design. Also embedded structures are part of this session. With these themes in focus also small institutes and companies may be able to contribute to the exploration of remote or harsh environments on Earth and in space.

In the development phase of a technological system the development team has to decide what kind of control system would be used and how to write a software which supports the purpose of the task. In most cases the main effort focuses on the optimization of the detectors, while system engineering tasks and software development are left to sub-contractors. Treating the instrument development process from the beginning as an integrated entity with a clear focus in system engineering design can lead to significant savings in resources and efforts and may open new application areas.
