Information - AS1.04/CL30 Atmospheric teleconnections (co-organized by CL)

Event Information
Atmospheric teleconnections play a key role in understanding climate
variability over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. This section is
designed to investigate the role of atmospheric teleconnections on global and regional climate both in observational data and model simulations. One goal of this session is to stimulate the introduction of new statistical analysis
methods and to discuss new validation techniques of general circulation models. Of particular interest are the tropical-extratropical teleconnections as well as the decadal variability of atmospheric teleconnections emphasized in long term observational data, model simulations, and high resolution proxy data.
The analysis of proxy data bring recent climate changes into a long term
context.
The intention of this session is to bring together people from various
sections of atmospheric and climate research to debate practical and theoretical aspects of atmospheric teleconnections and their role in present and past climate variability.
