Information - OS1 Open Session on Global Ocean Circulation

Event Information
For this open session contributions concerning all aspects of the global ocean circulation are welcome, including studies of regional-scale processes that impact the basin and global scales.
Additionally, we encourage submissions that do not fit any or several of the special sessions.

One particular aspect of the global ocean circulation that we would like to emphasize this year concerns the relationship between the quasi-steady circulation and the temporal variability. Topics include (but are not limited to) observational and modeling evidence for a ``mean'' circulation, assessments of assumptions underlying circulation studies e.g. by inverse models, representativeness of oceanographic data, scale separation between the mean and the temporally varying flow fields, etc.
