Information - PS3.0 Open Session on Terrestrial Planets

Event Information
This session is meant to collect contributions from a wide range of research dedicated to terrestrial planets (including Earth), which is not covered by one of the other sessions. Contributions about numerical simulations are welcome as well as data analysis related to past or ongoing space missions to earth-like planets and moons. The session includes topics from planet formation to early and late
evolution of terrestrial planets. Papers studying the deep interior (core) are invited as well as papers about crust, surface and near surface processes.

Each year we plan to announce a "Topic of the year", to which we will give more emphasis. This topic will change every year and contributions related to the 'topic of the year' are collected in their own time slot (if there are enough papers submitted).

The Topic Of The Year 2008:
Deep Interior

All papers about planetary interior (including the Earth as the best known and largest terrestrial planet) are invited to this years special event. This includes all research about core formation, differentiation, thermal evolution of the core and the mantle, magnetic field generation, convection and mantle dynamics, etc. Especially encouraged are numerical modellers to submit papers to this special part of the session.

The Topic of the Year 2009
Outer Shell

According to the 'Deep Interior Special' in 2008, the next special event will be about modelling of the outer part of the terrestrial planets and the Earth. Papers about lithosphere, crust, (possible) plate tectonics, magnetization, magmatism, vulcanism, cratering, erosion, etc. are especially invited, numerical modellers in particular.
