Information - AS1.13 GIS in meteorology and climatology (co-listed in CL)

Event Information
The aim of the session is to bring together experts and other interested people
working in meteorology and climatology with Geographic Information Systems with
the goal to improve our understanding of spatial data discovery and analysis in
the domain of meteorology, climatology and atmospheric sciences.
The session is planned to address:
- GIS applications in climatology and meteorology, including contributions on
weather observations and prediction as well as global climate modeling,
- Applications in linking meteorological and climatological information to other
Earth sciences (e.g. hydrology, oceanography, biology) and social sciences
- Techniques for data access and discovery,
- Interoperability, data standards and data infrastructure development,
- Specific issues related to tools and methods in GIS for atmospheric data
processing, integration, and analysis: progress, limitations and possibilities,
- Progress and future development of representing dynamic multidimensional
atmospheric phenomena in GIS
- Development of GIS training programs for meteorologists and climatologists.
