Registration

Registration for the 11th Plinius Conference on Mediterranean Storms is through payment of the appropriate registration fee. There is no waiving of registration fees except for invited speakers and assisting attendees assigned by the Local Organizing Committee.

The registration fee includes participation in the meeting, the programme book, as well as participation in the parallel events consisting of the FLASH OPEN Meeting, the Joint MedCLIVAR/HYMEX Meeting, the MEDEX Meeting and the MED-FRIEND Meeting. These four parallel meetings are open to general people that participate in the Plinius Conference and also to experts and stakeholders.

A special committee will select "best posters" and "best oral presentations" for the "Med-Storm Prize for Young Researchers".

The registration fee also includes participation in all Social Events:

  • Coffee Breaks (All days);
  • Ice Breaker (Monday 07 September 2009);
  • Lunches (Tuesday – Thursday, 08 – 10 September 2009);
  • Visit to City at End-of-Sessions (Wednesday 09 September 2009);
  • Gala Dinner (Thursday 10 September 2009);
  • Post-Conference Excursion (includes lunch) (Friday 11 September 2009).

 

Pre-Registration

 Pre-registrants will receive their name badge and conference material at the registration desk once the conference opens.

 

On-Site Registration

Registration at the on-site rate will also be possible at the registration desk.

(*) The registration fee given above excludes the Friday 11 September 2009 excursion. For those who wish to partake in this excursion, the registration fee will be increased by €70 – €390 and €420, but will still appear as 'one' registration fee (not as a separate line item). VAT is included.

 

Half a dozen to a dozen (depending on needs) partial registration scholarships are available for undergraduates and postgraduate (masters and PhD) students. Please apply directly to the Programme Committee Chair before 30 June 2009. This will be determined on a first come, first serve basis, and will require that (i) you are first author of the abstract you are submitting, (ii) a cover letter from the student indicating their need and why they would benefit from coming to the conference, (iii) a letter of support from an academic at the student's university confirming the enrolment status of the student, that the student has no direct recourse to university or government grant's (e.g. research grants), and any other information about the student that would be helpful.

Conditions and Cancellation Policy

Pre-registration must be accompanied by payment, otherwise it will not be processed and the on-site registration rate will apply.

The registration fees are not transferable.

Registration fees will be refunded only if a notice of cancellation is received by the Local Organizing Committee before 15 August 2009.

  • E-mail received before 15 August 2009: full refund less €50 handling fee;
  • E-mail received 15 – 31 August 2009: 50% refund;
  • E-mail received after 31 August 2009: no refund of pre-registration fees.
