Post-Conference Excursion 29 November – 04 December 2008 (optional)

Michael Richter and Achim Bräuning offer to organize an excursion to the Atacama desert.

• Flight to Calama.
• By rental cars to San Pedro de Atacama, Laguna Miscanti, El Laco, Laguna Leija, Rio Puritama, Volcan Sairecabur (5850 m), El Tatio, Caspana, Ojo de San Pedro, Calama.
• By regular bus to Antofagasta, RT taxi Juan Lopez, Morro Moreno.
• Several hikes expert guided by Michael Richter and Achim Bräuning offering highlights related to geomorphology, mineral deposits, climate and climate change, water problems, plant communities and adaption, periglacial features and post volcanic landforms, coastal fog climate, loma vegetation etc. are planned.
• Return flight to Santiago from Antofagasta.

Costs will be about US$ 500 to US$ 600 per person depending on number of participants.
